Infi becomes a legend !
After months of intense matches, we are proud to announce the winner of the ShadowLeague - Trophy of Legends season one is the talented Chinese player representing World.Elite, Wang 'Infi' Xuwen. It took him 5 matches to defeat the unexpected but very talented Korean Orc from Mojawi Gaming, Hyo Sub 'FoCuS' Eom. Nonetheless, FoCuS played extremely well in all games but he could not do anything against the experience of towers especially on Twisted Meadows and the last map, Turtle Rock.
The ShadowLeague - Trophy of Legends started in early September with 24 players of which 12 of them were retired. The group stages lasted many months and we could already see some unexpected results from players who didn't qualify to quarter-finals such as the recently retired Yoan 'ToD' Merlo, the ZOTAC killer Sung Sik 'ReMinD' Kim, the finalist of the World Cyber Games, Weilang 'Fly100%' Lu and even the old Night-Elf superstar, Dae Ho 'ShowTime' Kim. The matches of the groups of the retired players were not very disputed, Fredrik 'MaDFroG' Johansson, Zdravko 'Insomnia' Georgiev, Jung Hee 'Sweet' Chun and Hong Won 'FarSeer' Ui easily qualified to the quarter-finals. On the other hand, it was more complicated in both groups of the current top players where a tie breaker was needed. In the group A, Sung Hyun 'SpaCe' Park surprised everyone by leading the group before being rejoined by his team-mate, FoCuS. In the group B, Jang 'Moon' JaeHo easily led his group followed by Infi who won the tie-breakers.
The quarter-finals started in January with some good and exciting clashes. During these quarter-finals there were two unexpected results, with FarSeer beating MaDFroG in an easy match with the score of 3-0. The second shocking result was made by FoCuS beating the favourite of the tournament, Moon, with the score of 3-1.
One week later, the first semi-final between FoCuS and Sweet was played, and despite a very good match by Sweet, he had no chance against his opponent who beat him with the score of 3-0. The other semi-final was more exciting and nobody expected FarSeer to play that well against a top-class player such as Infi. Indeed, it took Infi 5 matches to beat FarSeer who impressed everyone by his style and his aggressiveness.
Last week we saw interesting matches between Sweet and FarSeer, who had played together in the first match of the group-stage where we saw the victory for Sweet. For this third place final, both players opted to play random and this time, FarSeer was the best even, even getting Sweet's race three games in a row.
A few days ago was the match that everyone was waiting for, the grand final between Infi and FoCuS. As you might see it, they didn't lead their group, they had to play a tie-breaker to qualify to quarter-finals, but it is these two who played in the Grand Final. The Grand Final was played in a Best-of-Five game and the map-pool contained Lost Temple, Secret Valley, Twisted Meadows, The Two Rivers and Turtle Rock.
The first game started on Lost Temple where it didn't take much time to FoCuS to win the game despite the two expansions made by Infi. FoCuS played a two barracks strategy to produce more catapults which paid off later in the game.
For the second game, Infi picked Twisted Meadows where he quickly attacked his opponent and made towers in his base. After losing all his burrows, FoCuS had no other choice than to concede the second game which makes the score of 1-1.
The third game was played on Secret Valley where Infi couldn't do anything against this Blademaster who constantly healed by the Shadow Hunter. Moreover, FoCuS had made an expansion and thus had a huge advantage.
The fourth game, which could have given the win to FoCuS, was played on The Two Rivers where Infi did extremely well by pushing the base of his opponent and used very well the skill of his sorceress on the dragonhawk.
The final game is played on Turtle Rock where both players are spawned at bottom of the map. That is why Infi attempts another quick attack with his towers which is a success despite his Archmage loss. The final score is of 3-2 for Infi.
Here is the final result of the tournament:

I loved it
Being an undead fan, I can't say I'm too happy about how the finals turned out, but that's just bias talking :)
Great season, I really hope for another one. This was the best idea for a tournament, and the most entertaining one, in a long time for me. Loved it :)
